Hands up if you've ever been a hungover mess and all you've wanted in the world is a McDonald's burger meal, only to come to the inexplicably traumatizing realization that they don't deliver.
Well, fear no more fast food hounds, because all of your hopes and dreams have finally come true. Well, some of your hopes and dreams at least. On Wednesday, the fast food giant unveiled McDelivery with UberEATS, a service now available from more than 1,000 locations across the US. Are you lovin' it? I know I am.
While McDonald's is still yet to have its very own standalone delivery service, by teaming up with UberEATS, burger fiends will be able to order food straight to their doors through the Uber app.
So which members of American society have been blessed with this precious McTasty surprise? Delivery is at the fingertips of Americans living in 300 locations in Los Angeles, 144 in Phoenix, 270 in Chicago, and 59 in Columbus, Ohio.
There were early warning signs that the dream was within sight when the two companies launched a pilot programme in more than 200 Florida locations back in January. The pair afterwards announced the expansion of the partnership in April when the burger chain held a quarterly earnings call with investors.
In a statement today, McDonald’s CEO Steve Easterbrook said: “We are bringing a new level of convenience to more of our customers as we continue to transform the McDonald’s experience.”
Allen Narcisse, General Manager of UberEATS Southern California also commented on the new development, saying: "With UberEATS, you can get the food you want, where you want it, delivered at Uber speed. We're thrilled to partner with McDonald's to give fans in Southern California easy access to their McDonald's favorites at the tap of a button. People in Southern California search for McDonald's in the UberEATS app almost daily, so we're excited to expand our reach and deliver what they've been craving."
But the question on everyone's grease-stained lips is, when will McDonald's be available on UberEATS everywhere? There's no word on that yet, so watch this space. Or you can always get up off the couch and walk to McDonald's.
