Since the dawn of time, Brits have been complaining about everything under the sun, probably including the sun when, you really think about it. Even when it comes to the finer things in life, the British will always find a way to find a fault in it.
You could say, find yourself in a nice restaurant and acquire some tasty food, with a satisfyingly quick service at a reasonable price, for example, and yet still, complain that the urinal cake in the toilet you popped into is at an off-putting angle.
McDonald's McFlurry seems to be the only exception to this rule. It's humble, cheap and oh so sweet. What a lot of people haven't realised is that you can double up on your toppings and it only costs 20p ($0.27). Yes, you read that correctly. Let that sink in.
Metro reports that the rule works on a case-by-case basis, so it depends on which branch you're in, but when all you have to do is ask whether you can have an extra shot in your McFlurry, it's hardly a chore.
If that's still not enough, you could go all out by paying an extra 40p (54 cents). You'll basically have people saying "How about some McFlurry with your toppings?" I can't remember where that came from but it's always a classic.
A McDonald's spokesperson told the newspaper: "We offer guidance around pricing, but ultimately our franchisees decide on those which are based on a number of factors".
"We and our franchisees pride ourselves on providing good quality food at affordable prices up and down the country and work to keep differences to a minimum."
With 1249 restaurants in the UK, you are certain to find more than a few that do.
The revelation came when social media users started talking to Twitter to show off their somewhat secret hack. After the all the rumours about a secret menu and the fry pinching scandal, it's refreshing to hear actual useful McDonald's news.
A store manager in Scotland was the one to turn all of these rumours into fact. The hero took to Reddit and claimed it was all real, although it could well have easily have been a 12-year-old making it all up. Crazy how the world's news comes from Reddit.
On a Reddit AMA, the store manager revealed: "You can order from the 'secret menu'. The items on the 'secret menu' weren't invented by anyone officially at McDonald's, it's just a random person's guide to burgers you could potentially hack at a Maccy's."
"Order one and the workers might not know it by name but if you explain what it is, and are willing to pay for all the ingredients, it's just another 'grill order' that we can make up."
So there we have it: if you're hoping to fill your McFlurry cup with extra toppings, all you have to do is ask. If they refuse, just mosey on down to the next McDonald's you see, and feast on all the Crunchies your heart desires.
