In case you hadn’t noticed, Easter is just around the corner, which means that the world is currently going mad for the various chocolate and egg-themed treats on offer in stores around the world. Sure, the Reece’s Creme Egg was pretty damn exciting, and I’d never be the type to turn down a deep fried version.
However, there’s one Easter culinary creation that looks set to beat them all: the Creme Egg pizza. Yes, you heard me correctly. It’s a pizza, but covered with Creme Eggs. You can blame south London’s Crust Bros for this one. They’ve teamed up with Deliveroo in order to offer this sweet treat just in time for Easter, and it looks incredible. Incredibly weird, that is.
The Fior-egg-tina is a sweet take on the traditionally eggy fiorentina pizza. This version switches the traditional tomato base for a macerated strawberry one, which is then topped with mascarpone cheese and mint, followed by a truckload of Creme Eggs. Then, in place of parmesan, the pizza can be customised with crunchy Mini Egg sprinkles. Oh, and if that wasn’t quite enough to be going on his, the pizza also has a Creme Egg centre.
Joe Groves, of Deliveroo, said: “We know that people love to indulge in chocolate at Easter, and we wanted to come up with a creative way to help. Creme Eggs and Mini Eggs are a British institution and pizza has always been a firm favourite of Deliveroo customers. Combining them seemed mad at first, but we’re egg-static that we’ve created something both fun and delicious!”
Sadly, there’s no word on whether this idea is being snapped up by any pizza makers in the US or Canada. Thankfully, it looks pretty easy to make yourself – just buy a pizza base, blend up some strawberries, and cover with plenty of Creme Eggs. Genius!
