What model Charlotte McKinney eats in a day will probably make you very sad

For a lot of people staying fit is not a chore, it's a hobby. Charlotte McKinney is the perfect example of this. Getting out of bed at 6 am and not grumbling that you have to go for a run or swim is a skill I do not possess, and I'm incredibly jealous of those who do.

For model Charlotte, this kind of lifestyle is water off a duck's back. She told PEOPLE: “I’m really interested in finding good tips to stay in shape and I love being in the gym and I love doing yoga,”

To help maintain her figure, the 24-year-old, Instagram turned Wilhelmina model says she sticks to a balanced diet with only the occasional cheat meal, despite what the Carl's Jr burger commercial may lead you to believe.

She says, “I work out really hard and I stay on my diet all week. But on a Sunday, you know, maybe a little hungover, you have to reward yourself here and there, so I do.” McKinney logged a daily food diary, revealing tips that can help anyone, despite their body type.

Her key tip? Drinking lemon with hot water. It has a myriad of health benefits from helping your immune system to offering an antioxidant boost. It's also refreshing, helps you wake up and tastes great.

A typical day looks like this. As well as hot water with lemon, McKinney has a banana with a few tablespoons of almond butter. She usually gets a lunch from True Food Kitchen, her favorite dish being the Quinoa burger with hummus and kale salad, and her dinner is some form of protein and vegetables, her favorite being grilled shrimp and veggies.

To keep her ticking over she drinks various juices as snacks, including beet juice, ginger, lemon and apple and juices. Not afraid to treat herself, Charlotte has desserts too, her favorites being blueberries or a glass of rose. The total calorie count comes to 1,184 for the day. The daily average for women is 1,785.

Studying her daily intake, it's a little sad that she eats next to nothing, even if its quite healthy. Dietician Keri Glassman of says, “Warm lemon water is a great way to start her day—nutrients from the lemon can give the GI tract the push it needs to get moving. Plus it can improve skin and boost the immune system,”

She continues: “I love that her lunch is all real foods and perfectly proportioned. She also does a good job at dinner with lean protein and veggies.” But what's crucial is that she adds some critique too, saying,“I would like to see her add a snack with a little protein to keep her fueled properly, and a little healthy fat with dinner like guacamole would be okay, too.” Sound advice for an even more well-balanced diet.

It's recommended that women should eat at least 1,200 calories per day (men at least 1,800) but it should also be noted that each person is different and what may work for one person like Charlotte McKinney may not work (at least not to the same extent) for yourself. Do what exercise and diet feels best for you and in no time you'll look and feel great.
