A great meal isn't truly great unless it's washed down with a great drink. We know this, restaurants know this, so it's in their best interest to accommodate to our needs, otherwise we might as well just drink water for free.
A Kentucky Fried Chicken meal goes great with an ice cold coke, a Five Guys secret menu "hack" burger and cajun fries are complimented beautifully with a strawberry milkshake. Extra well-done steak and ketchup probably tastes even better with a Diet Coke. The point is: if you don't have a great drink, can you really say you've had a great meal?
The biggest advocates of this way of thinking would probably be McDonald's. As we know, they already go to great lengths to ensure that their Coca-Cola is the best you've ever had. They do this by syphoning an elixir of raw syrup and fresh, filtered carbonated water from insulated "optimum temperature" stainless steel containers and putting them in cardboard cups so that the refreshingly sweet taste of Coke is never comprised. The same can be said for their other drinks.
If we know anything about McDonald's sodas, it's that their stuff is going to be crisp and delicious every time. A beverage just as refreshing as Coke is Sprite. Now, there's news that McDonald's will be releasing a new flavor of the lemonade, exclusively for McDonald's customers.
Look at those carbonated bubbles go. Called "MIX by Sprite Tropic Berry" (a long and rather uncatchy name), the drink mixes your classic lemon and lime Sprite taste with a blend of natural tropical-inspired flavors. It was originally brought out in May 2017 on a trial run, but has reappeared because it went down so well.
Those in New York City will have the first opportunity to try MIX by Sprite Tropic Berry at any participating location. By Summer 2018, nearly all McDonald's locations nationwide will be treated to the new soda flavor.
Linda VanGosen, Vice President of Menu Innovation at McDonald's, said: "We're mixing things up, so to speak, at McDonald's with a new, exclusive drink. We collaborated with Sprite to make MIX, an exclusive-to-McDonald's drink that combines lemon-lime and tropically-inspired fruit flavors. The flavor is craveable and delicious, and we know our customers will come back for more of this unique beverage once they try it.”
What's really cool is that as part of McDonald's new $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu, all beverages, including this one, are only a dollar. What a better way to bring in the new year. Summer 2018 is definitely going to be refreshing.
This new beverage continues McDonald’s progress of changing for the better through positive updates such as All Day Breakfast, Signature Crafted Recipes with premium toppings, delivery on UberEATS, a new value platform with $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu and more. For me, they aren't doing anything wrong.
To those not in New York City, you could hold on for a little longer, or get yourself out to the Big Apple for a taste of this sweet nectar. Either way, I highly doubt you'll be disappointed.
