If you’ve never seen The Simpsons, I’m going to assume you’ve been living in a cave or on another planet entirely for the last 20 years. While most of the planet love The Simpsons for its irreverent, wacky humor and brilliant characters, I love it for another reason entirely: the food.
Yes, I’m aware that every single item of food featured in The Simpsons is simply an animated illustration of food, but they’re still enough to make a food addict like me very, very hungry. Who can honestly say they’ve never gazed lovingly at Homer Simpson’s bright pink donuts as he shoves them into his open mouth? I sure as hell have.
Thankfully, there’s one place where you can purchase some very real, three dimensional food entirely inspired by dishes and drinks featured on The Simpsons. All you need to do is visit the Universal Studios in Hollywood, California, where you can stop by Springfield itself.
Once there, you can go for a pint of Duff beer at Moe’s tavern, pop inside the Kwik-E-Mart for a quick snack, or head over to Lard Lad’s Donuts to get your hands on Homer’s favorite donut. Pink with sprinkles is a popular choice, unsurprisingly.
The burgers, which you can purchase from Krusty the clown’s very own burger shack, look so ridiculously good that they’re almost cartoon-like in their meatiness. Am I the only one wondering how they got their cheese to look quite so yellow? I’m sure Krusty has some kind of secret recipe he’s shared with the owners of Universal Studios. Either way, I’m desperate to visit as soon as possible. Anyone got any Krusty connections to sneak me in on the cheap?
