How many times has a McDonald's Breakfast come to your rescue? Whether you're trying your best to power through the day with a crippling hangover, or just want to treat yourself (or it's an everyday thing for you like it is for me), I am forever grateful to the wonderful, illustrious, too good to be true McDonald's Breakfast Menu.
How do you improve on perfection, though? With Egg McMuffins aplenty and bacon to your heart's content, there's not much else McDonald's could offer that I could add to my already worryingly large orders. Turns out that the way to encapsulate your heart, even more, is to go bigger (and subsequently better).
McDonalds has introduced a new addition to its forever life-saving breakfast menu. The new Big Brekkie Burger, courtesy of the McDonald's team in Australia. For some reason, this has really ticked off fast food fans in the UK, who have not had a good time of it recently.
The UK's fast-food scene has become bleak in the last week, with some KFC stores running out of chicken. Stores up and down the country have been closed for the best part of three or four days as their chicken is stuck in a warehouse somewhere. On top of this, Szechuan sauce the promotional Disney condiment pushed by Rick and Morty fans is looking to be released towards the end of the month in America. People in the UK really had really drawn the short straw, and it looks like the rest of the world is just laughing at them.
According to McDonald's Australia, "It starts with a warm, crisp hash brown sandwiched between melting cheese, rasher bacon and a freshly cracked egg. Finished with a 100 percent Aussie beef patty and a generous dollop of BBQ sauce in between a toasted sesame seed bun."
Although it may not look like a traditional breakfast, it certainly looks like a greasy treat to enjoy on the go. It’s all the classics, plus a bit of cheese, between burger buns. What more could you want?
Naturally, Twitter was ripe with excitement. One person wrote: "McDonald’s are absolutely on fire at the moment the big brekkie burger looks unbelievable." Another said: "Actually just dribbled." You'd think McDonald's have done everything right, but one disgruntled Brit gave the Golden Arches a piece of his mind.
@BeardyBayes pointed out: "why are the UK restaurants always behind other nations in terms of offering more food options, example Aussie Macca’s has just released a new brekkie burger and serves breakfast favourites all day." Beggars can't be choosers, but he is right about the breakfast all day thing. It's pretty uncool.
So how many calories are in the new burger? Sadly, the calorie content is high, as expected. The Big Brekkie Burger is a whopping 796 calories, it also has nearly 18 grams of saturated fat, and over nine grams of sugar. But buying this burger, I think you already know what you are signing up for.
