Taco Bell are well known for their bizarre taco shell inventions. You'll probably remember how back in January, the fast food giant's Naked Chicken Chalupa took the internet by storm. The ridiculous invention consisted of crispy fried chicken forced into the shape of a taco shell.
Now it looks like the fast food chain are taking their taco game to the next level by releasing their latest, greatest creation to date: a taco shell made out of a fried egg. Yes, you heard me correctly. A taco shell, made out of an egg. I'm not kidding.
Known as the Naked Breakfast Taco, the new menu item contains sausage or bacon, nacho cheese, a three cheese blend, and potatoes. Oh, and then the entire thing is wrapped in a fried egg. Could there be any more protein?
However, if you're not comfortable with that fried egg in all its naked glory, then don't worry, because Taco Bell are also offering a "dressed" flatbread version for all you prudes out there.
Missy Nelson, Taco Bell's dietitian and product developer, said: "We think it will pique people's curiosity... People are going to be really passionate one way or another about it. I think once you taste it, you're going to want it again."
Want to give it a try for yourself? Taco Bell announced on Thursday that it will begin testing the Naked Breakfast Taco in Flint, Michigan from mid-April. The tasty taco will cost $1.99, and if tests go well, will be rolled out across the US in the coming months.
