Rose-Shaped Doughnuts Are The Next Big Instagram Trend

There’s no denying that doughnuts are great. However, after a while, it’s easy to get bored of the same old jam-filled, sugar-covered creations. There’s only so many times you can put your finger in the middle of a doughnut and eat it directly off said finger. It’s time for something new. It’s time… for doughflowers.

What are doughflowers, I hear you ask? Well, as the name suggests, they’re doughnuts in the shape of flowers: roses, to be precise. In fact, these particular creations from New York’s Doughnut Plant are so beautiful, they’re almost too good to eat.

The rose doughnuts come in three fittingly delicate flavors: strawberry, rosewater and crushed petals, and Italian blood orange. As you’d expect from something so aesthetically pleasing, the flowery creations have been blowing up on Instagram in a big way.

Coming up roses.

The doughnuts were the brainchild of Doughnut Plant founder Mark Isreal, who you may remember as the guy who created the inception-style doughnut within a doughnut within a doughnut. Clearly, this is a man who knows his stuff.

If you’re in New York, you’re almost guaranteed to have a Doughnut Plant just around the corner, thanks to the store’s Lower East Side, Chelsea, Long Island City, Queens, and Prospect Heights locations. The rose doughnuts were initially intended as a limited edition treat, but they’ve proved so popular that Mark has decided to keep them on the menu long-term. It’s still a better love story than Twilight.
