PETA has somewhat of a divisive reputation. On the one hand, there is absolutely no denying that the organization strives to do everything it can to campaign in favor of animal rights, including the right not to be used in meat and dairy production. On the other, it has repeatedly been called out for excessively condemning specific individuals, organizations, and the media for engaging in what they deem to be animal cruelty.
Needless to say, in order to get as many people onboard with their ideals as possible, PETA doesn't just emphasize how deducting meat and dairy from your diet benefits animals, but also how it benefits us as individuals.
Now, we all know PETA have been a little "out there" with some of their past campaigns, but their most recent one was just... bizarre, even for them.
It's no secret that meat and dairy contain a lot of saturated fats, both of which have a direct link with increased cholesterol levels and an increased risk of heart disease, but PETA is now claiming that being a vegan could help you last longer in the bedroom.
According to PETA's website: "Low-fat vegan meals tackle all the physical causes behind the vast majority of cases of impotence: high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, prostate cancer or inflammation, and hormonal imbalances."
"A new study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition also suggest that men who couple regular exercise with a diet rich in flavonoids, found in fruits like strawberries, blueberries, and apples, may reduce their risk of developing ED by over 20 percent," PETA continues. "And each person who goes vegan saves more than 100 animals a year from suffering and a terrifying death in today’s industrialized meat, egg, and dairy industries. The key to a long-lasting, hot love life is to start with delicious vegan meals in the kitchen."
Now, you might think this sounds like a bold claim - but trust me, PETA wasn't just going to divulge this rather x-rated information in nothing more than an obscure paragraph on their website. No, they wanted to get it out there to the masses.
So they made an extremely NSFW (I'm not kidding) commercial that essentially claims vegans are better in bed:

Anyway, the commercial was so raunchy that it was banned from being aired during the Super Bowl. Instead, people have been watching the very steamy scene on YouTube.
If you've not yet seen it, here's a little breakdown for you: the commercial uses a split screen to compare the sex lives of a vegan and a meat-eater. And you guessed it - the vegan lasts a lot longer while the meat-eater leaves his partner unsatisfied.
However, while there is definitely an argument to be had that living on a primarily plant-based diet will mean you are less at risk of developing a whole host of health problems, you don't necessarily have to go vegan in order to be healthy.
In fact, while Kat Van Kirk, Ph.D., a sex and marriage therapist supports the idea that "your sex life will be affected if you’re leading an unhealthy lifestyle," she also argues that "people who are eating little to moderate amounts of red meat don’t seem to be having any issues."
Ultimately, it's all about eating things in moderation - it always been. In order to be at your healthiest, you need to be maintaining a balanced diet, whether that includes meat or not.
