Oreo have revealed their newest cookie flavor, and it might be their best yet

‘Tis the season for all kinds of pie to make its way to our dinner table and therefore, our stomachs. If for some weird reason you are done with all the festive pastries (how can you be, we’re only in the first week of December) you may want to turn your attention to some Oreos.

Don’t get me wrong, the sweet shock of a new Oreo flavor used to be a lot more tangible (especially at this time of year) and it takes something truly special to turn our heads. But the cookie kings may just have stumbled onto a winner with their newest creation.

Yes, Oreo is back at it with a new flavor, and although it feels like an oldie, it’s still new… if that makes sense. The famed cookie will be releasing a Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie flavor just in time for you to finish a whole packet while you watch Elf over and over again.

According to Junk Banter, and it really does feel like it’s going to be a fancy version of their old Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup rendition. Last night on their Instagram, @junkbanter, they posted a mock-up of the bag with a brief description of its contents.

The post reads: “Yes, it’s true! Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Oreos are a real thing headed our way. I think it’s important we keep our expectations in perspective with these. I’m totally excited to try this combo on the graham wafer, but realistically the creme is an inferior version of the fabulous, legendary, please-bring-them-back Reese’s Oreos.”

The package in Junk Banter’s photo says it consists of graham cracker cookies, which I guess is the biggest difference between it and the Reese’s Oreo. Of course, it’s also half peanut butter, half chocolate creme.

As @junkbanter notes, this isn’t the first time Oreo has made a chocolate peanut butter cookie. There’s the classic Peanut Butter Oreo, with peanut butter filling and chocolate cookies, and the beloved Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Oreo – whos duality is as great as yin and yang.

Oreo’s last flavor experiment was Hot Cocoa Oreos, which was released in November to relatively good reception, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie should make a good addition to this year’s festive rotation. We are still, of course, waiting to find out what their mystery flavor will be.

At present time, Oreo is yet to confirm or deny when Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Oreos will be dropping. Whilst @junkbanter believes this flavor is “destined for success” they aren’t entirely sure. They posted, “Look for these to pop up at some point later than today, but no later than the end of time. (I have no clue when they come out.)”

One thing is for sure, for those who miss the Reese’s Oreo, this might be a nice replacement, although it will probably only be around for a limited time, so keep your wits about you. Happy chomping!
