You may be thinking that we're still in the height of summer, with the blazing sun of August not letting us forget what time of year it is. Your co-workers and friends are still making you jealous with their vacation pics plastered all over Instagram and Facebook, the air conditioner is working as hard as it can and the freezer is fully stocked with ice cream.
But that doesn't mean we can't look ahead to the next few months, as it is now only a few weeks before September hits, when the leaves start to grow brown and fall from the trees. Before you know it, it will be fall and we'll be living very different lives. The heat will give way to cold and the days will grow shorter, making sure we know that a new season has started.
It's easy to look at this change as a negative one, with the pleasant weather of summer slipping away and those Monday mornings becoming even more difficult to bear when you're waking up before the sun has bothered to. I actually like the Autumn season - in fact, it may be my favourite.
I like the weather, the fashion, and get a little hot and bothered with the summer sun after a while, but that's not the only reason to. Fall coming means that Halloween is just around the corner - a holiday that is fantastic alone, but also brings in its own seasonal goods. That means all kinds of brands are giving us new flavors to enjoy.
Starbucks' iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte is still a few weeks away, but in the meantime we've got other things to seek out. It's the time of year for the likes of M&M's to switch things up and give us glorious new products to love and cherish.
This year's seasonal flavor for the chocolate-y treats is going to be pumpkin pie! Formally named White Pumpkin Pie Candies Harvest Blend (we'll all end up calling them Pumpkin M&M's), the flavor has been hotly anticipated for weeks, and now it has hit Walmart stores - though it is not an exclusive to that particular chain.
Typically, Walmart and Target each sell a store-exclusive variety, such as last year's "Booterscotch" at Target. M&M's have also released Pecan Pie candies, but this is the first release of the Pumpkin Pie flavor, which infuses white chocolate with cinnamon spices to get you in the mood of the season.
The Halloween treat is described as "the perfect fall treat" by the company:
"Thanks to the magic of the Mars research lab, now you can experience the mouth-watering essence of this classic pie in confectionery form with these Pumpkin Pie M&M's candies! You'll be so enraptured by the pure perfection of these new candy flavor you won't need any cool whip topping. Keep your fall candy dish well stocked!"
I know as soon as I get the opportunity I'll be out searching for these candies. As much as I love the spirit of the season, I can't stand to wait until September comes around to try them out.
