We all prone to leaving things until the (sometimes very) last minute and it turns out the British Royal family are no different. The sixth-in-line to the British throne, Prince Harry, is reportedly making big changed to his personal life in preparation for his wedding to the American actress Meghan Markle.
Everyone wants to look and feel their best on their wedding day. For most brides and grooms, this may involve a few extra press-ups in the gym, or saying 'no' to a third helping of roast potatoes on a Sunday (two is almost always a must, for Britons). However, it’s now being reported Meghan Markle has put her husband-to-be, Prince Harry, on a pre-wedding diet ahead of their nuptials on May 19.
We know Meghan is big into her food, in particular, her high quality eats that keep you well and help you feel good. The Daily Mail reports the 33-year-old prince has jumped on his future wife’s ‘clean eating’ habit and is now juicing, cutting out carbohydrates and processed food in favor of kale and quinoa. I wonder what it's like to only have to do something you don't particularly want to for the first time at 33.
The royal - who recently announced he had chosen his brother, Prince William, to serve as best man on his big day - is claimed to have already lost half a stone in the lead up to their wedding. "They have bought a top-of-the-range juicer and she has him on fruit and veg smoothies. She’s also weaning him off meat," a source told the Daily Mail.
Some of you are probably thinking "what the hell does he need to exercise for. He's so trim already, I'd lap him up right now. What the hell is Meghan Markle on?!" And I agree. You kind of need to take this news with a pinch of salt. Prince Harry is already a pretty healthy, trim guy, a member of a private Chelsea-based gym in London and has maintained a peak level of fitness during his 10 years in the army.
During a trip to a Chicago school last year, the royal did admit that he had given up pizza, years after his Army colleagues revealed the sixth-in-line to the throne ‘lived off Kentucky Fried Chicken’ during his years serving in the Forces.
Meanwhile, his family’s former chef, Darren McGrady, has previously revealed that as young boys Harry and William loved eating burgers, pizza, and potato skins. So, perhaps the prince actually has decided to ditch the junk food in favour of a healthy eating and fitness regime ahead of his big day with his fiancée?
In contrast, Markle has long boasted a healthy diet and once described her ‘ideal day’ involving a ‘clean cleanse vanilla shake’ blended with blueberries, a Niçoise salad for lunch, with a little goats cheese and possibly a slice of baguette on the side, with seafood for dinner.
She previously told Women’s Heath UK: "I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends. But at the same time, it’s all about balance ... I don’t ever want to feel deprived. I feel that the second you do that is when you start to binge on things." Whatever the couple eat, their candid pics look better than my Sunday best (which is about a 3/10, if I'm generous).
