A lot of people want many things Meghan Markle has; Prince Harry, her coat, her glowing skin and of course, her now barely regal bod. For this piece, we're going to focus on the penultimate, her fresh-faced visage.
You may already know the princess-elect is into her food but you'll be surprised to hear that she gets her skincare secrets from the kitchen as opposed to the skincare aisle. Turns out, Ms Markle has manuka honey and bee pollen for breakfast every morning.
A New Zealand delicacy, manuka honey is famed for its antioxidant content, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Meghan has hers poured on top of steel-cut oats and sliced banana every morning, but you can also find it in the ingredients list of multiple skincare products - though they're arguably are not as tasty there.
Talking to Women’s Heath UK, she said:
"I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends. But at the same time, it’s all about balance ... I don’t ever want to feel deprived. I feel that the second you do that is when you start to binge on things."
Markle has long boasted a healthy diet and once described her ‘ideal day’ involving a ‘clean cleanse vanilla shake’ blended with blueberries for breakfast, a Niçoise salad for lunch, with a little goat's cheese and possibly a slice of baguette on the side, with seafood for dinner. Not many people would sign up for that, but the results (ie. Meghan Markle) are pretty hard to argue against.
It seems Prince Harry has jumped on board with this mindset too, looking to get trim just in time for his big day. Leaving it a little to the last minute but we all have to start somewhere (I guess you just wouldn't expect the sixth in line to the throne to do so too).
Meghan Markle has put her husband-to-be, Prince Harry, on a pre-wedding diet ahead of their nuptials on May 19. The Daily Mail reports the 33-year-old prince has jumped on his future wife’s ‘clean eating’ habit and is now juicing, and cutting out carbohydrates and processed food in favor of kale and quinoa. I wonder what it's like to only have to do something you don't particularly want to for the first time at 33.
The royal - who recently announced he had chosen his brother, Prince William, to serve as best man on his big day - is claimed to have already lost half a stone in the lead up to their wedding. "They have bought a top-of-the-range juicer and she has him on fruit and veg smoothies. She’s also weaning him off meat," a source told the Daily Mail.
Some of you are probably thinking "what the hell does he need to exercise for. He's so trim already, I'd lap him up right now. What the hell is Meghan Markle on?!" And I agree. You kind of need to take this news with a pinch of salt.
Prince Harry is already a pretty healthy, trim guy, a member of a private Chelsea-based gym in London and has maintained a peak level of fitness during his 10 years in the army. Still, if you'd want your wedding pics to be as good as they could possibly be, losing a few more pounds won't hurt.
