As food in restaurants goes, McDonald’s is almost the perfect example of fast, tasty food that everyone can enjoy. With the introduction of food for vegans and the re-release of the one, two and three dollar menus, there doesn’t seem to be anything McDonald’s can do wrong at the moment.
With the endorsement of people like Chrissy Teigen and Kim Kardashian too, McDonald’s has done really well trying to appeal to other audiences outside of the morbidly obese and the blindingly drunk who pass a McDonald’s on a night out.
There’s also now the massive home delivery service that is going from strength to strength. I can’t even remember how I lived without having McNuggets delivered to my door almost instantly. Now, it looks like things are going to get a whole lot better with their latest new menu addition.
McDonald’s recently introduced a massive change to their iconic Big Mac burger, replacing two beef patties with two juicy fried chicken burgers. The chicken sits between the usual Bic Mac garnish: iceberg lettuce, cheese, onions and pickles and is called the Chicken Big Mac.
McDonald’s introduced the burger Down Under after some resourceful revellers began to create it themselves with off menu-items. Rather than beat the crowd, McDonald’s joined it, and everyone is thankful for it.
A spokesperson for McDonald’s Australia said: “Customers loved the Chicken Big Mac when it was on the menu, and Aussies have been asking for it to come back ever since, so from today (January 10), the Chicken Big Mac is returning to restaurants nationwide.”
They continue “the Chicken Big Mac teams everything you know and love about our Big Mac – the Special Sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions and sesame seed bun – with our famous Chicken pattie.”
McDonald’s Australia CMO Jenni Dill said: “The iconic Big Mac and the McChicken are among our most popular burgers, so it makes sense to mix up these two classics and give our customers a new and exciting produce to try – the Chicken Big Mac.”
Even though the burger was only available for a limited time, McDonald’s has now been forced to bring it back. Its success is so popular that it could only be a matter of time before it makes its way to other parts the world.
The McDonald’s Head of Food Development in the UK, Duncan Cruttenden, said: “We’ve obviously done work on beef so I think we’ll take another look at chicken at some point soon. We’re constantly looking to refresh categories like blended ice and ice-cream as well, and we’re constantly evolving our coffee menu.”
Making your own Chicken Big Mac by hacking the menu is cool, but for the lazy ones out there – or those too nervous to ask – this menu item is a revelation. Once those two markets are deemed successful, it will be mere moments until it reaches American shores. It’s just up to you whether you want to limit yourself to gobbling down just one burger when it comes.
