As a New Yorker, Katie Holmes has established a nice balance between ordering take-out and cooking dinner at home. Having stayed in New York a few times in my life, I know how difficult this can be, I can’t imagine having to battle dollar slice pizzas for kale my entire life.
She has actually confessed that she has to sacrifice eating some of her favorite foods in order to maintain her enviable body. The mom-of-one spoke candidly about her diet while attending an event for Num Noms on Tuesday, saying she strives to eat as healthily as possible.
Talking to People at an event for Nom Noms, she said: “I do not eat whatever I want. I try to eat healthy. I try to eat my veggies every day.” The 39-year-old said that she tends to start her day with a breakfast smoothie, with other staples she ensures she always at home including “cereal, canned soup, pasta and tomato sauce.”
Katie tries to stick to this dogma so she can easily whip up quick and tasty meals before and after work. This consistency is the key to keeping yourself in good condition. She does confess, however, that she can indulge from time to time. “I prefer to cook but it just depends on the day, if I’m not home in time (I’ll order in),” Katie reveals, and when she’s out and about, she says her go-to fast food is a cheese quesadilla from none other than the Mexican fast food chain, Chipotle.
“I usually get a cheese quesadilla,” she said. The fast-food chain that somehow manages to weather every bad PR storm that comes its way just got itself another massive publicity boost, with this off the cuff endorsement from the A-lister. What makes the plug even greater is that cheese quesadillas are technically only found on the secret menu.
It was only recently added to the restaurant’s kid’s menu, but has been a mainstay on their “secret menu” for those in the know for while. Katie stresses that this isn’t an everyday occurrence, adding that she prefers when her friends cook, namely her fashion designer pal Zac Posen.
“I love what he cooks,” she says. The actress recently opened up about overhauling her lifestyle, particularly her workout routine, in order to prep for her role as an ex-Marine in the upcoming action-thriller The Doorman.
Talking to Women’s Health, Katie Holmes revealed:
“I was a five-pound weight person, and now I can do 15, 20, and I’ve been doing a lot of boxing, which I had never done before. It’s thrilling. You can get out the stress of the day. I just go in there and think of all the mundane things that bother me. Traffic! I put off all my calls till after boxing because it puts me in a much calmer place.”
It is shaping up to be a busy year for the former Dawson’s Creek star. Katie has landed another leading role in a Fox pilot drama and will serve as an executive producer on the project too. She is also set to appear in satirical comedy Dear Dictator, opposite Michael Caine, and has a cameo role in Ocean’s 8. She’s gonna need all the boxing and quesadillas she can get her hands on.
