The Kardashian family “Detox Salad” is exactly what you need to get you through this January

As we know by now, the Kardashian crew is all about their food (and their Instagrams, trainers, shoes, clothes and all the rest). If you've ever watched Keeping Up With the Kardashians, a moment rarely passes without them being around the dinner table talking and eating.

Khloe Kardashian even once said: “My family and I love to come together for a home-cooked meal. It’s such a nice way to catch up and connect.” The connection the Kardashians have to food is truly like no other.

Each of the sisters is known to experiment in the kitchen with their own signature spin: Kylie Jenner is a queen in the breakfast department, Khloe is all about the comfort food favorites (dubbing herself a fat girl chef) and Kourtney is always playing up more healthy ingredients. What's even better is that they can all get down with a nice cheap bowl of instant ramen. What a bunch.

Most importantly though, the Kardashians understand balance. They enjoy a salad as much as they enjoy a McDonald's and you should too. With that, I have the recipe for the Kardashian's detox salad. A creation of Kourtney's, this is the oldest sister's go-to salad. It’s light, has protein and "is full of vitamins and omega-3s.”

The salad has a salmon and avocado base, with Kourtney's favorite sesame and tahini dressing to top it. What you'll need for the salad is three hearts of romaine lettuce, a large avocado, one peeled and sliced cucumber, two peeled and sliced carrots and a pound of skinless center-cut salmon. You'll also need one to two tablespoons of olive oil, some Himalayan salt for seasoning and the juice of one lemon.

To make it, drizzle juice from your lemon on top of salmon and season with some salt and pepper and let it sit for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, heat a frying pan to medium with your tablespoons of olive oil. Cook the salmon until it's opaque. The whole thing should take about eight minutes, and you should only have to flip the salmon once during cooking.

Once the salmon is done frying, set it to the side and let it rest for about five minutes. In this time, wash and chop the romaine lettuce. Place it in large glass salad bowl. Dice your cucumber and carrots and add it to the salad. Chop the salmon into small cubes, and also add it to the salad.

For the dressing, you need an eighth cup of rice wine vinegar, one diced shallot clove, a teaspoon of Himalayan salt, an eighth of a teaspoon of fresh ground black pepper, two teaspoons of tahini, a tablespoon of sesame seeds and a half cup of sesame oil.

To make it, simply combine all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk until it's completely blended together. Drizzle this over the salad, and garnish it with avocado and salt and pepper to flavor. That's it.

This dish is so simple to make you can have it as a lunch on the go or a light dinner when you can't be bothered to really cook, and need something healthy. It really couldn't be easier to keep up with the Kardashians.
