It's a much acknowledged fact of life that the older you get, the more rubbish your Christmas stocking will be. When you're a kid, it's stuffed full of knick-knacks, sweets and gadgets, but by the time you're an adult, somehow people think that a couple of candy bars and a piece of fruit will do. And that's if you do still get one at all.
That's not to say you don't look forward to it, of course. And with just over six weeks until the big day, the cookie monsters at Oreo have come to save you from Christmas morning disappointment, because even if there's only one thing in your stocking (and your belly) this year, you're going to want it to be their Holiday Eggs.
Admittedly, they're basically a re-packaging of their Halloween and Easter Oreo eggs, but the penguins, snowmen and reindeer on the plastic containers are so cute and full of festive cheer that it's kind of hard to care.
For those of you not already familiar with the concept, Oreo Eggs are creme-filled milk chocolate eggs, complete with crunchy chunks of cookie. It sounds a simple enough concept, but although they're not exactly small, it's actually full on impossible to eat only one.
It was Instagram's favorite candy lover, @candyhunting, that drew our attention to the delicious sweet treats after spotting them in Walgreens.
As we mentioned before, they exactly the same as previous eggs and while Oreo fans have been quick to get excited about them, that hasn't stopped social media users throwing their ideas into the ring about how makers could branch out into more festive flavors. Among our favorite ideas are peppermint and white chocolate mocha - yes please!
The eggs aren't the only Oreo-themed Christmas treat to be spotted though - Oreo Cookies and Cream flavored candy canes have appeared on the shelves of Woodman's, which are a totally new addition for 2017.
And if you really want to go all out and have a proper Oreo feast, the company have also now released their milkshake gift set which comes complete with two milkshake beakers, cookies and an ice cream scoop. It doesn't include the milk or the ice cream, because that would be kind of gross, but you can probably provide that yourself.
So if you've got someone special's stocking to fill and you're in need of a little inspiration, these adorable eggs are a great way to fill it out. Fortunately, we've come up with a few additional ideas for you too, because we're nice like that: Jelly Bean Holiday Favourites (nomnomnom), Lindor Peppermint truffles, mini toiletries, stationery are all great options. On the other hand, if you're the lucky one on the receiving end of a stocking, then it's probably time to start dropping major hints to your stocking fairy.
And if Oreos aren't quite to your tastes, then how about this ingenious stocking full of wine? Or even better, both. It is the season of indulgence, after all.
