Donald Trump’s favorite fast food order has a heart-stopping number of calories

The food world is still unsure of what to do with Donald Trump. It’s clear he enjoys his food a particular way and is unapologetic about it (the basis of a true foodie). But knowing one of his favorite dishes is a super well-done steak with extra ketchup, it makes it a little more difficult to place him.

We’ve long known that Donald Trump treats his body less like a temple, and more like a failed Atlantic casino, then there’s the steak and ketchup thing. There’s also that time he sent an aide to McDonald’s when the White House chefs couldn’t get his burger right. The fact that he also opts for a cart on the golf course instead of walking doesn’t do him any favors.

Enter former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, and top aide Davide Bossie. Thanks to a new book from the duo, we now know the horrifying and depraved extent of POTUS’s fast food habits. Hold on to your calorie counters.

According to excerpts from “Let Trump Be Trump” which circulated in The Washington Post, Lewandowski describes “the four major food groups” on campaign flights as “McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, pizza and Diet Coke.”

Though Trump was once called “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency” by his doctor, Lewandowski’s tally of a typical McDonald’s meal for him suggests quite the opposite. His go-to combo of “two Big Macs, two Filet-O-Fish, and a chocolate malted milkshake” add up to 2,672 calories.

The combination also has 117 grams of fat, and 3,556 milligrams of sodium. In total, that’s more calories in one sitting than a 71-year-old man with a notorious disdain for exercise (which in turn depletes the body’s finite, battery-like reserves of energy, obviously) should eat in an entire day. This meal also exceeds the threshold for high blood pressure by a full 1.15 grams.

On top of this, Lewandowski also revealed that ensuring Trump got his daily rotation from the big-boy menu at McDonald’s or KFC was of paramount concern to the campaign. Multiple staffers had to be scrambled so that his favorite fast food would be waiting for him on the plane.

One time, Trump once ordered his team to leave campaign advisor Sam Nunberg behind at a McDonald’s because his order was taking too long. In addition to Trump’s collusion with McDonald’s, there was also plenty of unhealthy snacking going on between meals.

Lewandowski remembers “Trump Force One” was also stocked with “Vienna Fingers, potato chips, pretzels, and many packages of Oreos.” The only thing that could stop the president from stuffing his face with Oreos was the fear of germs from an already-opened package.

On average Trump’s daily McDonald’s order costs roughly $24.33, and would, therefore, cost taxpayers more than $35,000 if eaten every day for the duration of a four-year term. Based on US Census Bureau estimates, the $1.5 trillion that will be added to the deficit once Trump signs the GOP tax bill will be enough to buy 904 Filet-o-Fish sandwiches for every American. That’s at least one way to make McDonald’s great again.
