As any Harry Potter fan will tell you, butterbeer is one of the most delicious beverages in the magical world, enjoyed by witches, wizards, elves and giants alike. However, up until now, muggle supermarkets have been sadly bereft of the creamy, buttery drink.
Thankfully, it looks like our butterbeer-free days are over thanks to US ice cream company Yuengling. They’ve just released a butterbeer-flavoured ice cream, and it sounds like the most delicious thing since chocolate frogs. The ice cream is made from a combination of buttermilk and butterscotch, meaning the flavor will be just as buttery as your imagination would have you believe.
Yuengling’s president David Yuengling said in a release: “We are always looking for ways to inspire our fans and spark creativity. Whether it’s our flavor names and descriptions or the recipes themselves—we’re in the business of having fun. We hope we make J.K. Rowling proud with this flavor.”
In the books and films, butterbeer is slightly alcoholic, but Yuengling’s variety, sadly, is alcohol free. But hey, at least that means the kids can still enjoy it, right?
According to US Weekly, the delicious flavor will be available at select supermarkets, retailing for between $3.69 to $3.99 a pint. Even better, the flavor looks set to remain in Yuengling’s permanent collection, meaning you don’t really have an excuse to go out and stockpile 100 pints of the stuff. Although, it is essentially ice cream made from the wizarding world’s favorite drink, so no one’s going to judge you.
And if you’d rather drink your butterbeer rather than eat it in ice cream form, all you need to do is head over to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. Sorted. Who said being a muggle had to be boring?
