18 Overworked And Underpaid Servers Who Bravely Shared Their Fails With The World

Being a server is no walk in the park. Many work a full 40+ hour week - with some even working a second job - and yet they still struggle to make ends meet. It is especially difficult on those days where customers aren't feeling all that generous as far as tips are concerned.

I can imagine it's very hard to take when you know you've done your best serving a table and receive absolutely no recognition for it. But this is what it's like for a lot of people working in the service industry.

On top of all that, servers are often expected to work very long, draining, and monotonous shifts, so it's pretty much inevitable that they will make mistakes from time to time.

I have to say, however, that some server fails are so bad, they're actually hilarious. In fact, many of them will even document their work fails online for the whole world to see and, well, ridicule.  So fair play to them - in spite of all the hassle they get during their shifts, they're able to retain a sense of humor about it.

1. The kind of server who shouldn't be trusted with sharp objects

Because they might just end up being a liability...

2. And while some servers shouldn't be trusted with sharp objects, others shouldn't be trusted with, erm, plants?

How does one person go about causing a catastrophe like this?

3. Sometimes the job involves being able to carry buckets of ice without dropping them

And this server definitely failed at that...

4. Apparently, a server handed the chef this ticket and somehow expected them to be able to understand it...

Looks like quite a few people aren't getting their meals...

5. This server couldn't follow one simple rule: Don't drop the sugar packets in the potatoes

Gives a whole new meaning to "sweet potatoes", eh?

6. One server had no qualms about delivering this to their table

Who would ever think this was okay?

7. One badass server thought it was a good idea to turn up to work stoned

Probably not one of his best ideas...

8. That's an interesting way of spelling "squash"

[caption id="attachment_27414" align="aligncenter" width="597"] Credit: Instagram / sobertso[/caption]

If that's how they spell "squash", god knows how they spell "Gnocchi", "Boeuf Bourguignon" or "Prosciutto".

9. Now this spelling error is even more unforgivable

[caption id="attachment_27415" align="aligncenter" width="591"] Credit: Instagram / server_life[/caption]

Does it get any more basic than "Birthday"?

10. Who charges their customers $2.29 for "sluts"

I mean, really? That's just rude.

11. Imagine dropping practically a truckload of cutlery on the ground

[caption id="attachment_27418" align="aligncenter" width="572"] Credit: Instagram / server_life[/caption]

Yes, that's exactly the situation that this server got themselves into.

12. This server divided the check by 20 instead of by two

Uh, may they were just having an "off" day?

13. This server left a long-ass sugar trail behind her

How did she not notice?

14. So this server just dropped a whole tray of food covered in condiments and dressings

It just wasn't her day... her week, her month, or year.

15. This server had a pretty sh*tty day at work, and to top it all off this happens:

No server needs that to happen on top of all the other sh*t they have to deal with... like argumentative customers.

16. At least this waitress was able to laugh off her rather unfortunate mishap

Yet another plate of food gone completely to waste...

17. Stocking the back room of a restaurant may not seem like rocket science...

But catastrophes like this are always a possibility...

18. After a long, tiring day spent cleaning dishes, this waitress slipped and fell on top of a pile of crates

Oh, and she also dropped all of the dishes she was washing in the process. Ouch.

Has this put you off from ever applying to become a server? I know now that it's definitely not something that I would ever consider.
