Unfortunately, when it comes to getting a ripe avocado, let alone keeping it fresh for any longer than an hour or two once opened, well, it can feel like a nigh impossible task. But thankfully, with so many people stockpiling avocados by the dozen, there's now a number of hacks freely available which will change your avocado game for the better. Prepare to have your mind blown.
1. Want perfectly ripe avocados all year round? Simple: coat them in lemon juice and freeze them.

When it's avocado season, half them, pit them, coat them in lemon juice and then store them in the freezer cut side down on top of parchment paper. Once they're hard, you can store them in a container and defrost when you want their deliciousness!
2. Freeze pureed avocados and you'll have the ultimate smoothie starter.

3. Avocado not ripe yet? No problem - simply pop it in the oven!

One of the most devastating moments in any millennial's life is discovering that they've got a rock-hard avocado when they want to make some guac. BUT NO MORE! Simply wrap one in foil and bake it in the oven at 200°F for 10 minutes.
4. Alternatively, you can store avocados in a bag with apples or bananas to ripen them up faster.

Why bananas and apples? Well, it's because they're full of ethylene gas, which naturally speeds up the ripening process.
5. Stop your cut avocado from browning by storing it in an airtight container with sliced red onion.

Onions emit sulfur gas and this is what prevents oxidization of a cut avocado. Oh, and the onion smell won't affect its taste.

The olive oil will act as a barrier between the avocado and the air, preventing oxidization.
