I'm not a passionate fan of wedding ceremonies, finding the sweet romance and celebratory socialising often tempered by awkward family meetings and the endless tedium that comes with the organisation. But I am a fan of cake. It's not exactly a controversial opinion, since cake is the one thing even the grumpiest of curmudgeons can enjoy.
It is, however, one of the best parts of the expansive (and expensive) feast, which has grown over the years from a matter of taste to an art form in of itself. There are thousands of companies dedicated to the craft, and some of the results are truly astounding. I know that I'm a little tempted to get hitched, at least just to try out one of these wonderful creations.
1. For those who find the icing too thick
2. Why not go square?
3. Savoury cake made from pork pies and cheese
4. Cupcakes as an alternate choice
5. An unusual design
6. Drenched in chocolate
7. A funfetti cake
8. Geode cake
9. Drip cake
10. A Marble look
I'm starting to have second thoughts about weddings after looking at these cakes. If there's even the slightest chance of the reception having a cake close to the quality of the designs above, then I'll be RSVP-ing as soon as I possibly can. Can you imagine a wedding without a cake? Well, for this couple it almost happened, but luckily this bride's friend saves the day when the wedding cake didn't arrive in time.
